Getting to MaxFunCon
MaxFunCon will be held at the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Conference Center, in Lake Arrowhead, California, about two hours east of Los Angeles in the San Bernardino mountains.
We encourage you to make carpool plans and share rides to the venue, which ranges from about an hour to about two hours from Southern California's major airports. Many visitors plan carpools on the MaxFunCon Facebook group.
Flying
If you're flying in, the closest major airport is Ontario, California, which is serviced by most major airlines (including the bargain carrier Southwest). If you wish to fly into Los Angeles, Burbank is significantly closer than LAX. We recommend Ontario if possible, as it will help you avoid Los Angeles traffic during rush hour on Friday (you'll only have to deal with Inland Empire traffic).
Carpooling
For the sake of sanity, friendship and the environment, we encourage you to carpool with fellow attendees, both from the airports and from the Los Angeles area. Carpools can be arranged on the MaxFunCon Facebook Group.
Driving
From Los Angeles
Freeway 10 east to the 215 north; take Freeway 210 east (Mountain Resorts). Exit at Waterman Avenue and turn left (North) at signal. Continue forward. Waterman Avenue turns into Highway 18. Stay on Highway 18 for 20 miles into the mountains to the Lake Arrowhead turnoff. This is a left turn onto Highway 173. Stay on Highway 173 for approximately 2 miles until you come to a stop sign. Turn right at the stop sign. This is a continuation of Highway 173. You will be on Highway 173 for approximately 5 miles around the lake. When you see the sign (UCLA Conference Center) take the very next left onto Willow Creek Rd. (If you pass North Shore Road you went too far). Come to the end of the road, curve to the right, and then take the next right into the Conference Center.
From Pasadena / San Fernando Valley Area
Freeway 210 East. Exit Waterman Avenue and turn left (North) at signal. Waterman Avenue turns into Highway 18. Stay on Highway 18 for 20 miles into the mountains to the Lake Arrowhead turnoff. This is a left turn onto Highway 173. Stay on Highway 173 for approximately 2 miles until you come to a stop sign. Turn right at the stop sign. This is a continuation of Highway 173. You will be on Highway 173 for approximately 5 miles around the lake. When you see the sign (UCLA Conference Center) take the very next left onto Willow Creek Rd. (If you pass North Shore Road you went too far). Come to the end of the road, curve to the right, and then take the next right into the Conference Center.
From Ontario Airport
From the intersection of I-10 and I-215, go NORTH on I-215 for 6 miles to fork; take Freeway 210 east (Mountain Resorts). Exit at Waterman Avenue and turn left (North) at signal. Continue forward.
